The Young Tradition sang The Barley Straw in on their last LP, Galleries. Heather Wood noted on the album's reissue: From the singing of Harry Cox of Norfolk, this is a typical song of rural seduction. Harry Cox's recent death was a great loss to the British tradition. Ken Wilson sang The Barley Straw on his CD Portraits. He noted.

The Stack of Barley was always called as a dance in my day. The tunes played were The Stack of Barley/The Little Stack of Wheat/ and any other type of suitable Barndance or Hornpipe. For the Seige of Ennis we always played - The Ennis Reel/Bog Cotton/The Rattling Bog/The Spanish Lady and any suitable Polka such as Dennis Murphy’s etc.
